Alison Meeks - AM Graphix

AM Graphix has been serving clients since 2003 when I decided to take it full time. At the start I was doing primarily print design and managing the often confusing interface between what the client wanted and how to actually get it. While I still do print design as clients require it the majority of my work is designing, building and maintaining websites for my clients.

I'm pleased and proud to have won local design awards (gold and platinum in 2020 to 2022) for graphic and web design and I won gold for 2023 in both categories.

My clients typically come to me after their first or other websites aren't living up to their expectations (for various reasons) and they are ready to grow.

I keep a select group of amazing clients that I work with to ensure I can maintain high service levels for them.

AM Graphix is located in the city of Guelph, Ontario, Canada which is situated on treaty land that is steeped in rich Indigenous history, and is the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation of the Anishinaabek Peoples. Guelph is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people today. More details about my city can be found here.

Joomla CMS

When I first started in web it was managing a big custom built website where I interfaced between management at the company I worked for and the web development company that built the site. I was hooked! Then said company needed a small side site and I built that with a WYSIWYG type editor. OMG This is great. A few years later I was introduced to Joomla and life hasn't been the same since.

Why Joomla? Security and flexibility are the big points for me. Security is a big deal though it is no good if you don't have the design, flexibility, and functionality to go with it. I need to be able to create a design that fits your brand as well make it tick the boxes for your requirements.

Joomla is a Free and Open Source (FOSS) project Content Management System (CMS), meaning it is built and supported by volunteers. I'm proud to say I've been one of those volunteers for a decade.

About Alison

My background is in administration, print design, prepress production, and purchasing/inventory management. I decided to start AM Graphix so I could work from home. Years of knee pain made it clear that doing the commute into Toronto where the big design shops were was just not manageable.

Personally I'm a fan of classic rock, muscle cars, critters, and looking into tiny house living. There are some really great ideas that are way easier on this blue dot we share.
